Hosting is a service that stores your website or web app on a special computer (called a server) so people can access it through the internet.

How it works

You build a website on your own computer, but nobody else can see it there. To share it with the world, you upload its files to a hosting provider's server. That server is always on and connected to the internet. When someone types your site's address, their browser connects to the server and loads your pages.

Analogy

It's like opening a shop. You can design products at home, but customers can't visit your house. So you rent a space in a busy market (the hosting server) where people can come anytime. The shop is always open - just like a hosted website.
